About Redbud Counseling Services:

Redbud Counseling Services is a private practice owned and operated by Ashley Ludwinski, LCSW and dedicated to providing therapeutic support for individuals (aged 18+yo) and couples in New York and Georgia. Regardless of whether we meet in person or virtually, I am committed to facilitating a space in which every client feels understood, valued, and supported. as we prioritize your goals, explore your story, and incorporate strategies for reintegrating pieces of your Self so you also can experience increased personal acceptance and relational connection.

My background and experience:

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) registered in both New York and Georgia. This means I can legally provide services to individuals and couples physically located in those states at the time of service. I completed my Master of Social Work (MSW) degree at Binghamton University and Bachelor of Arts degree in Neuroscience at Colgate University. I have experience providing therapy to individuals, couples, and groups experiencing a range of life experiences and social identities.

Before becoming a clinical social worker, I spent over a decade working as an educator, wellness program coordinator, and stay at home parent. Not only have these experiences shaped me as a provider, but they have also afforded the opportunity to be in community with individuals who have undeniably and graciously supported my own growth. Collectively, their wisdom and investment contribute to the foundation upon which Redbud Counseling Services is formed. I hold such gratitude for these communities, experiences, and insights.

Areas of Specialization:

I support individuals (18yo+) and couples navigating the impact of trauma, grief/loss, depression, anxiety, chronic pain/illness, relational conflict, life transitions, and identity exploration across the lifespan. I am particularly passionate about supporting folks identifying as neurodivergent (eg. autistic, AuDH, diagnosed with ADHD, OCD, etc), especially those diagnosed later in life or folks experiencing resonance with these diagnoses. I am LGBTQIA+, poly-, kink, and trans affirming. I am comfortable incorporating spirituality into sessions if desired. I have extensive experience supporting individuals grappling with implications of internalized narratives about themselves and their abilities, while also seeking options for identifying and implementing strategies to navigate through feelings of overwhelm within the context of unique and daily stressors.

My Therapy Core Values:

I consider the opportunity to work with individuals and couples in the therapeutic setting an undeniable honor and privilege that comes with significant personal and professional responsibility. I acknowledge the mental health profession, and particularly social work, has historically been complicit in perpetuating violence against individuals, particularly BIPOC individuals and members of indigenous communities. Because of this, I consider it my professional and ethical responsibility to continually acknowledge the implications of my positionality as a white woman within the therapeutic space. I am committed to engaging in personal reflection and maintaining intentional community, with the intention of confronting internalized biases stemming from culturally engrained values rooted in white supremacy that negatively impact my work with all clients.

Core Values and Beliefs:

  • Everyone deserves to experience validation, compassion, and belonging: I am committed to co-creating a space free of judgment in which we can explore your personal desires, values, and hopes.

  • Everyone holds expertise in their own experiences and deserves the right to make decisions honoring their personal journeys, values, and goals: I uphold the value of self-determination and am committed to centering your values and beliefs when working together.

  • No one is inherently "broken" : My goal is not to "fix" anyone, but to offer space for holding, curiosity, and support as you understand yourself, your relationships, and explore options for increasing connection with your Self and others.

  • We are all impacted by "stories" we have heard about ourselves: I partner with clients to identify internalized messages and stories that contribute to experiences of isolation and loneliness. I offer attentive support as clients explore and express the impact of these stories, while collaboratively rewriting them and identifying spaces in which belonging can occur.

Upholding these values is impossible without my continual and committed engagement with personal, internalized biases that threaten to promote power imbalance within the therapeutic dynamic.

Approaches to Therapy:

My practice primarily incorporates trauma-informed, relational-cultural, feminist, and interpersonal lenses. In my work with individuals and couples, I draw from a range of theoretical approaches, including the Gottman Method, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), and Mindful Self-Compassion (MSC).

I am also committed to ongoing professional development and engage in ongoing trainings and professional education to continually hone my skills as a provider.
